Note: First of all, you need to install the addons initially and do the things that I am gonna show you now. Only afterwards if you accidentally delete tabs then you can restore. This post is not for all. Only for who encounterd tab deletion situation and now looking for a solution.

We often encounter a situation where we mistakenly close all the tabs instead of single tab. When we are in a page/tab then we can press Ctrl+w to close that tab. But this is not feasible always. Sometimes we want to right click on the tab to close it.

But when we are in hurry and hit of the moment, if we click on “Close other tabs” instead of “Close” then all our current tabs will be closed and you have a very hard time to find that. Yes you can go to the bookmarks section or history section to get your tabs back but those are tedious to do because you need to manually remember what those tab were.

To get rid of this situation, you should install a chrome addons “Session Buddy

Once the installation is completed then click on the icon of session buddy to land on session buddy default page. On the right above you will see “save” option. Click on that to save as collections and rename it as per your wish.

I save it as today’s date.

If you want to export all the currently saved tabs as a .json file so that you can import it in other machine or incase of any accidental situations, you can do that.

From the settings, click export

Then save the file.

Another good feature of this tool is, it can take snapshots within an interval of your mentioned time. Let’s say you had 10 tabs, out of those you deleted 3 tabs. Let’s say you choose the snapshot time is 5 minutes. So before 5 minutes you had 10 tabs as per that time snapshot. Now after 5 minutes it will see you have 7 tabs now, so it will take another snapshot. Now this time if you accidentally deletes all of your tabs, then you can still regain those 7 tabs easily.

Click settings

Now what is for Firefox?

For firefox, you need to install “Tab Session Manager” addons. After installation once you open it, you will land on a blank page. See lower left. You shall see Save option. Go for Save all windows. Save with a name as per your choice. The same way you can export it and save it on your system.
