How to install windows server 2022, 2025 in vmware

First you need to download the iso file of this two servers from the below link….

Now Disclaimer: Read the full post first then start installing, otherwise you will find something not working in the middle.

We will also fix this error: Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation for windows server 2022 and Windows Server Installation has failed at the time of reboot for windows server 2025.

Add the iso here

But here the problem starts. If we select the .iso file then we will encounter with below issue while starting our setup. This is for windows server 2022.

For windows server 2025, it will not allow you to select any options like datacenter evaluation desktop experience, harddisk formatting part, license agreement acceptance part. Rather it will direct go to the installation section and failed later.

So the solution for both the case is, choosing “I will install the operating system later” option.

For WS2025 change the version here accordingly.

Click browse, change the windows server 2022 vm location. Also change the vm name. Do the same for windows server 2025.

You can give more resources to the vm as per your host machine’s resource availability.

Change the vmdk location

Click Finish

Now once the vm is created, now manually select the .iso file. Now those problems will not come.

Now let’s install the windows server 2022. The process is almost same for WS2025. Power on the vm, and click OK for side channel notification.

Now installation will be started.

It will ask you default Administrator user password. Provide that.

Once the system is up and running, then install vmware tools to feel the smoothness of using windows server 2022/2025 in vmware.
