How to install parrot os in vmware…
I was trying to install Parrot os as my secondary pentesting vm in vmware. But I faced some challenge when I tried to use their provided .vmdk file for vmware.
The error was: When parrot os trying to boot from their vmdk then i encounter error as network boot from intel e1000 client mac addr like this…I changed the boot order from network to hard drive but it did not work either. But there is solution.
A reddit post helped me.
The reason for this warning is, I had put the parrot os vmdk on the Parrot vmdk folder. Go ahead and click continue.
Here you just need to do the magic. Just change the Firmware type from BIOS to UEFI.
Give enter and done. System will run now.
Alternate way:
I also downloaded the parrot os .iso file.
https://parrotsec.org/download/
Go to the above link and click on Live > Security > amd64
Now follow along again……
Now click finish and run the newly created vm.
In the last writeup (https://mahim-firoj.medium.com/creating-ubuntu-vm-in-vmware-workstation-pro-17-41e92d2e889f), I already showed you how to disable side channel issue. It’s easy. Just google it or see the writeup.
Do not encrypt the system. That will create another issue.
Once the installation is done, reboot the system. When the system is up, then login with credentials.
All packages are updated. Though it is giving some error but it’s ok. Remeber parrot is debian based as well so whatever commands you use in kali, same command you can use here.
